This section has some information for teachers considering using string art to introduce or reinforce various topics in the school curriculum.

Straight line art exercise 1

Straight line art is a good way of introducing the principle of symmetry to young children. The purpose of this exercise is to introduce straight line art using the simplest of tools and it does not require maths or measuring skills.

Straight line art exercise 2

The purpose of this exercise is to produce straight line art using a compass to divide a circle into segments. It shows the relationship between the diameter and the circumference of the circle.

String Art and Math: A Project in Multiplication

Multiplication math facts are generally introduced in the second or the third grade. Occasionally, some students have difficulty learning them. One way that has motivated students to practice and learn the factors of multiplication with string art.
